Public Service Law

Public service law holds a special position in relation to employment law, since matters are often organized somewhat differently in public administration (government, provinces, municipalities, water authorities, the police force, etc.) than in trade and industry.

Moreover, privatizations, economies of scale and reorganizations in the education and healthcare sectors have not made the positions of employers and employees any clearer.

The same applies to municipalities: issues such as dismissal, redundancy pay, reorganizations and funding play an important part. Legal issues call for lawyers who are familiar with public service law and who understand the ins and outs of the ABP (General Pension Fund for Public Employees); particularly lawyers who really listen and can truly advise or litigate if necessary. Such lawyers can be found in our Public Service Law practice group.
